One Endless Night

You are damned. Once upon a time you were human, you think, but now you are something else entirely. A lifetime ago you were cursed, forced to spend eternity in one endless night where you visit the children of the earth one at a time and deliver to them what they deserve - either the granting of their most trivial wishes, or a lump of coal as punishment for their transgressions. You have no say in what you deliver. Your actions, and your life, are dictated by your List. You can barely remember what the sun looks like. All you know is cold, and dark, and childish excitement tinged with fear. You don't even remember who you are anymore. What you do know is that you aren't the first to suffer this fate. There was one before you, the one who passed on the curse to you, and one before them. You hope that you won't be the last. But freeing yourself from this prison requires you to make a choice. Who will replace you - and are you desperate enough for freedom to force this cursed life upon someone else? You have all night to find the answer.
