Summary

An ongoing sandbox storytelling RPG, where you can lead any life you want within a fictional city.

Full Description

You are one person adrift in a turbulent urban sea–a city filled with others going about their lives. All manner of power players shaking hands, with money flowing in and out and around these streets. The city does not see you outside of the occasional broad statistical swipe. It may not even see the parts of itself where you must walk. If you were to die in a gutter tomorrow, the city would carry on all the same.

But without people like you, the city cannot exist–buildings would stand empty and dark. An ocean is defined by water, and each individual drop of water both does and does not matter due to this. That's the promise, the hope, the lure, and the trap all in one. You belong here, and must find a way to endure. Otherwise, you'll live and die as a member of the city unseen...

The City Unseen is an solo tabletop RPG, playable with or without anyone else at your table. It provides simple rules and writing prompts to help you tell an ongoing tale within a fictional city of your design...

  • Focus on ongoing concerns or major life goals
  • Work a day job, including random incidents
  • Go on a high-stakes heist using stealth, combat, or your wits alone
  • Drive across the city and only break a few traffic laws
  • Roll random citizens to encounter, each with unique personalities

Skill checks, random event tables, and other rules keep things lively as you eke out a day-to-day existence. The City Oracle provides a simple Yes / No to any question you may ask of it... but also can apply Costs and Benefits on top, to ensure nothing's ever quite as simple as it seems.
