Summary

Sometimes a letter is a lifeline.

Full Description

It is World War II and Canada has declared war on Japan after its aggressive military push in the Pacific theatre. In Canada, anti-Japanese rhetoric builds into the shameful human rights violation of Japanese internment. In the Pacific theatre, Japanese victories bring the war right to Singapore's doorstep. In the midst of the war's relentless progress, two Japanese-Canadian women reach across the ocean to connect through their letters. Letters from the Front is an epistolary game for two players. One will play Grace, who must contend with increasing racism and the growing threat of internment as she works in the family bakery in British Columbia, Canada. The other will play Mari, who must deal with an endless flow of patients as the war makes her job as a nurse in Singapore harder and harder.  In this short game book, you'll find a guide for fleshing out Grace, Mari and their relationship, a timeline for when the letters are written, and simple tables that add events into Grace and Mari's day-to-day lives. The only other things you'll need is a six-sided die for each player, and a way to write and exchange letters.
